RIGHT TO REPAIR ACT REACHES 87 CO-SPONSORS
Congressional support for the Motor Vehicle Owners' Right to Repair Act (H.R. 2048) reached 87, as nine new legislators signed on as co-sponsors. The new members of Congress include: Reps. Howard Berman, D-Calif.; Loretta Sanchez, D-Calif.; John Lewis, D-Ga.; Martin Sabo, D-Minn.; Bob Etheridge, D-N.C.; Harold Ford, D-Tenn.; Collin Peterson, D-Minn.; Corrine Brown, D-Fla.; and Jo Ann Davis, R-Va.
The Right to Repair Act, which was introduced by Reps. Joe Barton, R-Texas, Edolphus Towns, D-N.Y. and Darrel Issa, R-Calif., would require the car companies to make the same service information and tools capabilities available to independents that they provide their franchised dealer networks.
AAIA members that live or work in the districts of the new co-sponsors are urged to send a letter thanking the legislators for their support of a competitive vehicle aftermarket.
